Swimming for fun and family days

If you are new to swimming and plan to attend a public swimming pool, take the time to read the local rules. If you have any questions or are unsure about conditions, take the time and ask the local lifeguard. These lifesavers are a wealth of knowledge.

The most common rules is: Do not run!

Yes it maybe e hard to calm the kids down but explaining the dangers before arriving at the pool should put them in the proper mindset.
If you are wearing swim fins remember to remove then as soon as you exit the pool. You can easily trip and/or slip severely injuring yourself or others. You don’t want to ruin a fun family day at the pool.

Swimming for exercise

Most public pools have lanes for competitive swimming. If you plan to train in a competition pool remember that competition pools have lanes. You should be aware of your location in the pool at all times. This is to prevent accidently going of course (or out of lane) and injuring another or yourself.

Swimming lessons

If you plan to take lessons it is important to know there are 1 on 1 lesson and group lessons. Some people tend to choose the 1 on 1 lesson because they tend to be shy or embarrassed because they are taking lessons. Remember the others in your class are taking lessons too. There is no need to be embarrassed.

Have fun at the pool and keep it safe.
